It’s a great time to start a side hustle: The internet has never in its existence offered you more opportunities to make money online from the comfort of your home. You can easily start an online business, market your skills and products from the most remote location in the world, and receive money from your clients worldwide via PayPal instantly.

A side hustle is a great way of making some extra money, creating a passive income stream, and testing entrepreneurial waters before you jump “all-in”. In case you aren’t making any money online right now (but would like to!) here are a couple of ideas for you to get you going.

1. Write An E-book

Writing and publishing your own e-book is a great accomplishment. Though writing and editing an entire book can be quite daunting at times, publishing your own book or e-book is a nice way to make some extra cash on the side and help others out with practical advice at the same time. I myself have written numerous e-books and have gone through the process multiple times. My tip: Select a niche that you feel is underrepresented and research what topics readers might be interested in. Invest time into writing a quality e-Book and get it published on Amazon.com. And don’t forget the marketing!

2. Start Your Own Blog

This is a classic. Starting a blog is a nice way of sharing information and building a following. Start a blog about something that you are passionate about, a hobby, or something that you like to do when you have free time. Blogs can be monetized through affiliate marketing links, ads, and, of course, your own product.

3. Create A Course On Udemy

Everybody has a skill that can be monetized. If you are good at coding websites, designing book covers, or digital marketing, create a course to sell on online learning platforms such as Udemy. The more valuable your content, the better you are going to do in terms of course sales!

4. Start An Amazon FBA Business

Amazon has morphed into a giant e-commerce platform that provides enterprising individuals with an endless stream of opportunities to sell stuff.

Amazon FBA, which stands for “Fulfilled by Amazon” in particular is an attractive option for digital entrepreneurs. Find a niche product such as bracelets, earrings, funny socks, or yoga mats and ship the products to an Amazon warehouse. You just need to drive traffic to your Amazon product page and get people to buy it. The benefit of Amazon FBA: The e-commerce retailer handles the entire sales process. The shortcoming: You need to invest money in inventory first.

5. Start A Dropshipping Business

Dropshipping is very similar to Amazon FBA. You pick a niche product that you want to sell online. The big difference is that your dropshipper handles the fulfillment. You drive traffic to your online store, i.e. using Etsy or Shopify. As shoppers order your product, your dropshipper handles the entire order. You are just driving traffic. Pick a good niche product and make sure you pick a reliable dropshipper. Setting up a dropshipping store costs as little as a couple hundred bucks.

6. Sell Your Skills On Fiverr

Are you good at SEO, graphic design or formatting documents/reports? Then head over to freelancer platforms such as Fiverr.com where you can offer your services to customers worldwide.

7. Teach Languages Online

If you are a native English speaker (U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia) there is a good chance that you can teach English online to students in Asia, mainly China. But there is also room for other languages: If you are speaking Spanish, French, Italian or German, there are other platforms where you can try to sell your language skills. Try sites such as www.italki.com or www.dadaabc.com.

8. Create An App

If you are into coding and understand software development, creating an app might be another opportunity for you to start a side hustle and make some extra money. Find a niche and code an app that solves people’s problems. Think of productivity, health, fitness, diet or investment analysis apps. The market is crowded for sure, but there is always an opening in the market for somebody that creates value.

9. Sell Stock Photos

If you are into photography, you can make money online. Upload your pictures to a an image database such as www.shutterstock.com and make money when people download/license your pictures.

10. Create A Subscription Business

This one is probably the most time-consuming and labor-intensive business idea on this list. However, you can make a LOT of money with it. A subscription business is attractive, first and foremost, because of its recurring income. Your clients sign up for regular counseling sessions or to access a library of resources, and pay on a monthly basis. If you are good at working out in the gym, are a fitness freak, or interested in nutrition and health, you can built a community around your brand. If people like you and your product, you could start a subscription business that focuses on continuous coaching and professional development.
